Cotton Candy skies, Sweet Details, many tears.. on a One Year Anniversary happened a proposal that will absolutely blow you away.
He's got the heart of a romantic, and she's the luckiest woman in the world. When Dave contacted me to tell me about his plans for their 1 Year Anniversary..I knew this would be an amazing experience to get to capture, and I was more than right. I was completely blown away. Real candles, Torches, photos of their year together and many more details were set up everywhere. That night, he took her out to dinner, and then for a walk in the park, eventually leading her down a path marked by candles right to the spot he chose to propose. As soon as she realized what was happening, tears poured down her face and as I watched Claudia cry of joy and surprise, I found myself trying not to shake as I started crying too!! He got down on one knee, and asked the question every girl dreams of hearing from their one true love. And she said YES! He held her hand and showed every little detail he put together for this night, and as she swooned we did too. So they begin their journey.. Claudia and Dave, I'm so thankful and honoured to have been a part of this special day of your lives, and I can't wait to see you guys continue to walk together all the days of your life, shining brightly of a love that can only be heaven-sent, and glorifies the One who blessed you both with that love. I really have no other words to even explain this beautiful night, so I'll let the photos talk..

Love, Romance, Cityscape & Sunsets.
The perfect evening getting to capture these two and their love for one another. Shooting by the water was perfect, because when I thought of how I'd describe a little of each of them, I thought of the sea when it's calm, when the sun is setting and everything is the softest hues of gold and deep reds. Even though as a general rule, it seems that opposites attract, and these two are different here and there, but for the most part, they are totally in sync. Andreea is a sweetheart, and Aneel is her sidekick who cracks the occasional jokes (really good ones too) and they're both easy-going and so fun to be around! Together, they remind me of the calm you feel when you watch the sun set into the sea. They're different, but work so perfectly together that it seems like they've been together from the beginning of time, and (I love sunsets so..) like the beauty and peace of the sun setting over the sea, it should never end. "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." 1 Corinthians 13 Well, this Engagement Session was just surreal. We caught golden hour at every stage of its glory and it I can'tttt handle it.
Photographing Kimberly and Dave was awesome, I am so so excited for their Wedding this fall and getting to photograph them again! They are the sweetest couple, reflecting the glory of God so fully through not only their characters but also their relationship. It's so clear to see that they love and admire one another in a rare, gloriously beautiful way. So, here are a few peeks at their Engagement Session in full-on Golden Hour! It was a beautiful, slow morning alongside this stunning Bride and her best friends + family.
The Wedding took place in a quint little church, where every other friend and loved family from near and afar gathered together to witness these two hearts join as one. The rain surrounded us throughout the day, the wind tried to take hold of us, eventually sending us inside for cover.. and all of this brought out my love-affair with Black & White in post-processing (because there really is nothing better than BW indoors + all of these amazing emotions I got the honour of capturing from their Day...and don't worry, the Bride + Groom have lots of the of the colour photos too! haha) Well, honestly can't think of any adjectives to describe Jessica & Andrew's Wedding Day except ; relaxed, beautiful, intimate, joyful. From the early morning hours into the late hours of the reception, the whole day went by beautifully, even with the rain that joined the celebration. Jessica & Andrew, may love surround you all the days of your life together and may you always bask in the joy of the love that is clear you carry for one another. This proposal truly left me breathless.
It was set in the place that was most special to Nader & Brooklyn since they began - they had their first date there and their first kiss and some of the most meaningful talks of their relationship on that hill. That day Brooklyn was having a girl's day with her best friend Michelle who talked to me about the proposal and we planned how to bring her to the spot where Nader was setting up the proposal scene. Essentially, while she was out with Michelle, I asked them both to come by and help me test my flash + practice some night photography and then I would lead them to the spot where Brooklyn's dreams would come true. ;) As we were walking up the hill, she started to see all the little lights at the top of the hill where her future-husband-she-was-not-yet-aware-of was waiting for her and so she began to ask "oh what's that?!" Michelle and I were both tongue tied so I ended up just cracking some really bad jokes about how someone's probably on a romantic date and we can steal some light for our photos. Like I said, really bad, but she didn't say anything. We kept walking and when she finally noticed it was Nader she just got so excited and shocked she just kept saying "IS THIS DREAM? OH MY GOSH IT FEELS LIKE I'M IN A DREAM! IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?!" It was the loveliest night, the sweetest proposal. Twinkly lights and a glorious sunset, a full moon and full hearts. The whole night reflected their love for one another and the Lord and It was truly an honour to get to capture this incredible moment of their lives. So go ahead, swoon. For the second part of Kaly & Michael's dreamy Engagement Session, we headed to the beautiful and quaint downtown Aurora to visit their favourite coffee shops. My own husband and I recently opened up our own coffee shop, so we all connected through coffee and tea haha, and were so excited to check out all the lovely little coffee/tea shops around the area. After our trek through the woods and our feet basically frozen, we warmed up and hung out in a lovely little library/antique shop/coffee shop (called Books and Things) in which we also took some of the dreamy photos you'll see below. On our way out to visit another little cafe, we caught a peek of the sun setting and just ran for it so we could grab some amazing lighting that we were sure we weren't gonna get throughout the cloudiness of the beginning of the day. But, God provided and gave us the most beautiful sunset to be in awe at, and we definitely captured some amazingness.
These two had no problem warming up together, and you can just see the love, romance and sparks flying. Dreams came true in this session, and I've gotta say I'm beyond thankful for these two and their sweetness, and their friendship. I seriously adore what I do. So go ahead, swoon along with part two of this Dreamy Love Session. (Check out Part One of this session here - A real life Fairytale in the Woods) Okay, all I can say is that this engagement session is one that dreams are made of.
Kaly and Michael are not only ridiculously beautiful in photos, but are just beautiful souls in general and it's just a breath of fresh air to be around them. I praise God for these two and the love that marks them, it's contagious. When we first planned this session, Kaly told me that she's praying for light snow on the day of so it can fall in her hair and look dreamy, haha. Sure enough, the week before it didn't snow once, but the day before and the day of it snowed perfectly. Heavy snow the day before to fill up the woods and light snow the day of to fill up her hair! The Lord answered our prayers. It seems like such an insignificant little thing, but He took delight in taking care of that too. While in the woods, the weather was on our side in that it wasn't even as cold as we expected, and it only got reallyyy cold as the sun was setting and our clothes were soaked from treking through the woods (others even skied past us, it was that amazing of a place!) which brings me to my next point, there's a part two to this session, filled with dreamy sunset romance and books. I just can't get enough of these two. Overall, this whole shoot just whispers fairytale, and that is exactly what it felt like photographing them. Warm hugs & snuggles, adorable smiles and that I-absolutely-adore-you look in their eyes, they're a dream. Go ahead and swoon over their dreamy engagement session now, enjoy! (Be on the lookout for Part Two!) It has been soo long since I've had a perfect day like this one to shoot in perfect lighting! Golden hour is my ultimate favourite, and It was even more perfect paired up with this adorable little family trekking through the woods & the beautiful trails. Little Alessio definitely enjoyed his time running around and exploring haha, and I am so in love with all these shots, and Claudia & John's sweetness towards one another! Now it's your turn, enjoy the feeling of your heart warming up with cuteness overload! haha. Above all, love each other deeply.. This is one of my favourite family sessions I have done to date, simply because it's all candids. Danny & Dana wanted me to capture their days as a young family having fun and being together. They had specific shot ideas and it was a breath of fresh air to get to simply capture and not have to think of poses or any of that stuff haha. They are so much fun, their kids are the cutest and just getting to watch them all love on each other and have fun together made my day! It's for shoots like these that I can't stop smiling and thanking the Lord for my job, because I get to capture memories for families to always hold dear and that's simply the greatest joy. Enough words, let these photos speak to you of the pure joy of being a family :) and then the girls really wanted in on the pillow fight fun Love never ends. This lovely engagement shoot was supposed to be all fall, but that day ended up being the day of the first snow fall! We didn't mind at all, because it made the whole shoot that much lovelier, as you can see. My favourite thing about this shoot was the total outpour of love in Jana's laughter and pure joy, Dave's sweetness towards her. When we first met for coffee we talked about lots of things, and they laughed about how different they are, but as I spent this time together with them exploring one of their favourite places (as this is where they do their cute, romantic walks together haha) I have only seen the most important thing of all - their overwhelming love for one another. In the end, the beauty of love is the way two people come together in perfect unity because of it. Needless to say, I am SO excited for their wedding next year! I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine. |
